Student Voice describes Aruba Red as "Just what this industry is lacking: A woman with something to say". She writes and performs a provocative blend of poetic reggae and experimental styles with a passion for lyricism and soul at their core. Priding herself on being an independent and openly political artist, Aruba Red released her self-titled eponymous album in September 2008 which was featured by iTunes in their ‘Best of 2008 so far’ category. After collaborating with fellow EAR Sam Carter and reggae star Jah Mason on her track ‘Struggling’ the track reached the top 10 playlist on Irie fm in Jamaica. ‘It’s Time Now’ featuring Deadly Hunta was selected as ‘Hottest Homegrown Track’ on BBC Radio 1 by Ras Kwame and Huw Stephens. Aruba Red also features on Nitin Sawhney’s 8th album ‘London Undersound’ with their collaboration ‘Last Train to Midnight’ which received regular rotation on BBC Radio 1, 2 and Asian Network. She has impressed audiences with her fiery acoustic set and has toured with artists including Natty and Fat Freddy’s Drop. Aruba Red has monthly residency at London’s Roundhouse with her own night ‘Strange Brew’ which she hosts and co-produces.
